WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the Senate Democrats' vote to raise taxes:
"Today, Democrats in the Senate voted for a disastrous plan to raise taxes on small businesses and job creators. Once again, Democrats have put their tax-and-spend agenda ahead of creating jobs for Americans," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
"Maybe if President Obama bothered to meet with his Jobs Council once in the last six months or had received an economic briefing once in the last year, he would know that now is not the time to raise taxes on anyone.
"Because President Obama believes hard-working entrepreneurs 'didn't build that' and owe their success to government, he thinks government can take anything it wants from small businesses. But with 23 million Americans struggling for work after 41 months of unemployment above 8 percent, we should be encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation, not attacking it--either rhetorically or with higher taxes."
