Earlier this evening, Tim Kaine joined Chuck Schumer in voting to bring the government to a grinding halt. Meanwhile, health insurance for 66,000 Virginia children is swiftly running out of time. The Schumer Shutdown is in full effect, thanks in no small part to Tim Kaine.
Just a few weeks ago, Tim Kaine was warning that a government shutdown was a major threat to the Commonwealth, and he would oppose it.
From CBS 19 in Charlottesville:
"He made it clear that he will do everything in his power to fight against this threat."
"Kaine highlighted the thousands of federal employees in Virginia and countless other people across the Commonwealth who would, directly and indirectly, be harmed by a federal government shutdown.”
Tonight we learned that it was nothing but hot air.
As you cover Tim Kaine’s shutdown vote, please consider the following statement from me:
"Tonight, 66,000 children were counting on Tim Kaine. Hundreds of thousands of service men and women were counting on Tim Kaine. Thousands more Federal workers were counting on Tim Kaine. He let them all down. Virginians deserve better.” — Garren Shipley, RNC spokesman
