Thanks a Latte for Nothing, Joe Manchin

Brett Tubbs - January 24, 2018

Wanted to flag a few headlines that Joe Manchin hopes you missed in the last 24 hours.

Since the vote on the GOP's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Manchin has struggled to explain why he was against tax reform and we can only assume he's regretting his partisan vote with headlines like these.

A new poll out from Morning Consult showed that Manchin’s approval rating dropped points last year, a downward trend we saw from almost every Democrat running for reelection in a state President Trump carried.

Meanwhile, some of the country’s most recognizable businesses announced a new wave of pay raises and bonuses thanks to the GOP’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. This is great news for American workers and our economy! It’s bad news for Joe Manchin.

·         Starbucks: Seattle’s coffee giant announced pay raises and stock grants for employees. The news will impact 150,000 employees across 8,200 company-owned stores.
·         Disney: The happiest company on earth announced that 125,000 employees will receive $1,000 bonuses. They will invest $50 million into a new employee education program.
·         JP Morgan Chase: The company announced that it will invest $20 billion to give 22,000 employees a pay raise, open 400 new locations that create new American jobs, and increase its charitable giving and small business lending.
·         Verizon: Employees will receive $400 million in stock from the company.

Manchin already said the place sucks, but he continues to stand by Schumer's leadership team. Deep down inside he must be a fan of political games.
