One day after Senate Democrats were criticized for greatly miscalculating a government shutdown, Michiganders were reminded again that they’re own Senator Debbie Stabenow made the wrong choice with her vote against the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act too. Just today, DTE Energy announced that rates for 2.2 million electric and 1.3 million gas customers in Michigan will decrease because of the tax bill. The average customer will see a reduction of about 3%, with an estimated savings of around $190 million this year.
That’s right—millions of Debbie Stabenow’s constituents will be benefiting, yet again, thanks to the GOP tax bill—and no thanks to Stabenow. Today’s news comes after Fiat Chrysler announced it would make Ram trucks in Michigan instead of Mexico, bringing 2,500 new jobs to the state and $1 billion of new investment.
Now that’s a lot of $$$.
“First with the tax vote, now with the government shutdown, Senator Stabenow has foolishly been a loyal vote for Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren’s agenda, not for Michiganders. Enough is enough with her partisan games that always seem to leave her constituents behind. Voters will remember in November that Stabenow put a government shutdown ahead of children’s health care and stood in the way of smaller bills and bigger paychecks.” – RNC Spokesperson Ellie Hockenbury
