Question: “The president has been in office more than two years and some are saying that after two years, the president should take responsibility for some part of the economy. Where does the Bush presidency end in this presidency when it comes to the economy and where does this president pick up in taking responsibility for the economy?”

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney: “Well the president took responsibility on the day he was sworn into office and began a process of creating policies and implementing them that have helped us return to economic growth.”

(Jay Carney, White House Press Briefing, Washington, D.C., 1/17/12)
