Tom Perez's Rough Morning

Mike Reed - April 22, 2018

DNC Chair Tom Perez had a rough morning trying to defend the DNC’s lawsuit from a host of critics in his own party.

Nearly everyone is calling it a “stunt.” And the Washington Post writes (without quoting anyone – just as a statement of fact) that the suit has been “mocked” by Republicans and Democrats alike.

With 2018 elections looming, Perez was pressed by both ABC and NBC as to whether relitigating the 2016 election is a valuable use of limited DNC financial resources. Perez’s answer? “We can walk and chew gum (at the same time).”

Actually, no, you can’t. The DNC is currently $6.6 million in debt, and only has $9 million cash on hand.   Chairman Perez, you can’t “walk and chew gum at the same time” because you can’t afford to.

And by the way, guess who the DNC currently owes over half its debt to?  The law firm Perkins Coie.  You can bet that IOU is about to get a lot bigger.
