What is Sherrod Brown waiting for?

Mandi Merritt - August 13, 2018

It's now been five weeks since President Trump nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be the next Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, yet Sherrod Brown remains silent.

Following President Trump's announcement, Sherrod Brown promised to thoroughly vet Judge Kavanaugh's record and "ask him tough questions face-to-face."

It's been well over a month, and Ohioans are still waiting.

Last week, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley announced that confirmation hearings for Judge Brett Kavanaugh would start on September 4th.  A number of Democrats have already abandoned their blockade and scheduled meetings with him. With a hearing date set, there’s a limited window for Democrats who said they still haven’t made up their minds on Judge Kavanaugh to meet with him in person, like Sherrod Brown promised.

The clock is ticking...what is Sherrod Brown waiting for?

"This is par for the course in Sherrod Brown's resist-and-obstruct playbook. Despite voting for 100% of President Obama's judicial nominees, Brown has opposed 53% of President Trump's judicial nominees.  Once again, Sherrod Brown is letting Chuck Schumer dictate his actions, proving that party politics are more important to him than the Ohioans who elected him." - RNC Spokesperson Mandi Merritt
