- July 9, 2012

Obama Touts Economic Record To North Carolina’s Economy With Accelerating Job Losses

IN AN INTERVIEW, OBAMA CLAIMED PROGRESS ON JOBS, MANUFACTURING, DECENT WAGES AND A GROWING THE MIDDLE CLASS

WRAL’s Debra Morgan: “North Carolina has an unemployment rate of 9.4%. It's the fourth highest in the country. A lot of people I talked to in North Carolina just don't have a very good feeling about the economy. How do you change that?”

Obama: “We didn't get here overnight. We are not going to get out of it obviously overnight. What I have been consistently focused on is how do we grow our middle class? How do we bring manufacturing back to the United States? How do we make sure that not only good jobs are created but they also pay a decent wage so people can support themselves. And you know the work we have done has created 4.4 million jobs over the last couple of years, half a million manufacturing jobs.”  (WRAL-RAL, 7/9/12)
